Stone cross on the Lechle

The Steinkreuz am Lechle is a historic stone cross in the market town of Feucht in the Middle Franconian district of Nürnberger Land in Bavaria .

location

The stone cross is located in the local area of Feucht in front of the property Am Lechle 3 . It stands there at the beginning of the Lechle green area between a path and the stream of the same name.

description

The front

The primal looking atonement cross made of sandstone is about 110 cm high, 90 cm wide and 25 cm deep. On the back facing north, a 20 by 20 cm cross is carved. In the winter of 2008 a diagonal break was found at a height of 60 cm. The right mark was then pegged, glued and restored. In May 2010, the restored cross was put back in its original location.

History and legend

The relic is probably from the late Middle Ages and was designated as a monument by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation (D-5-74-123-39). According to tradition, a Georg Fleck killed the Ulin Schuh from Ezelsdorf here in 1410 . It is said of the cross that one hears a voice crying here at night. Often one saw glowing coals lying with him. The body mark (part of the body of the victim with a legal representative function) or debris was taken from the dead .
