Stella is a 2008 French film.

Summary

In Paris in 1977, eleven-year-old Stella grew up in a pub in a former working-class district. Apart from her cheating mother and her lethargic father, who run the bar, their dealings consist of regular customers and dodgy suburbs who seek consolation in alcohol and pub sociability. By chance, Stella came to a middle-class Parisian high school, for which she initially showed little enthusiasm. Her only friend there becomes Gladys, the daughter of Argentine intellectuals. The friendship with her awakens the love of literature in Stella and helps her to survive some hardships on the way from childhood.

The film, the third by the French director and screenwriter Sylvie Verheyde , has autobiographical features. The budget for the film was € 3.34 million.
