Architecture and history

It is a two-story house with an attic in a simple, functional half-timbered style. This also includes a courtyard with former stables and a garden.

The existence of the stilted jug can be proven under this name as early as the 16th century. It was the second tavern that had been built in the Hüttenort to serve beer and accommodate guests. The client was the count's hut factor Peter Engelbrecht .

On August 9, 1599, two fugitive craftspeople from Prenzlau and Pritzwalk , who had stolen from their two companions from Daber near Stettin, were arrested in the Stelzenkrug with considerable attention . The Count of Stolberg found several Ellen Barchent, a black doublet, a few pairs of stockings, a woman's bib, six man's collars, a handkerchief, a songbook, three man's shirts, a hat string, a man’s blouse, a steel mirror, a pair of scissors new shoes. During the questioning, both craftsmen admitted without further ado that they were dishonest towards their companions. Since no real damage had yet occurred and the stolen things could all be returned to their previous owners, both prisoners were released from custody against the oath of the original feud.

Even in later years, the stilted jug was a much-frequented inn and was the focus of fights and criminal machinations. Towards the end of the 19th century, the operation of the inn came to a standstill, as more modern hotels and new restaurants were built in the village.

In 1768 the Stelzenkrug is also known as the tavern for the black deer, named after the heraldic animal of the Counts of Stolberg.

In the local monument register , the house is listed as a monument under registration number 094 97516 in the Marienhöferstrasse monument area.
