The Stemmeringer Almbach is a brook in the municipality of St. Veit in Defereggen ( Lienz district ). The brook rises on the southern slopes of the Villgraten Mountains and flows into the Schwarzach in the area of a gravel plant .
course
The Stemmeringer Almbach rises at the head of the valley "Konitzen" between the Hochleitenspitze in the south-west, the Wagenstein in the south and the Rotegg in the south-east from several source streams. After the source streams have merged, the Stemmeringer Almbach strives north, where it passes the Stemmeringalm at around 2000 meters above sea level. From a height of around 1800 meters, the banks of the Stemmeringer Almbach are forested and the brook begins to tumble down the northern slopes of the Villgraten mountains into the Defereggental . In the lower reaches of the Stemmeringer Almbach takes on a side stream on the right side, which rises north of the Platt . The mouth of the stream in the Schwarzach lies in the area of the gravel works Gasser (Bruggen), opposite is the village of Osing .
geology
The Stemmeringer Almbach flows through the area of the east alpine Altkristallin of the Villgraten mountains. The old crystalline is divided into a north and south block by the steep, late Alpine Defereggen-Antholz-Vals lineament . The area of the Stemmeringer Almbach is located in the southern block, which is characterized by flat fold axes and Alpine metamorphic ages.
