Abassia Rahmani (born July 2, 1992 in Zurich ) is a Swiss sprinter who competes in the T43 category .

Career

Abassia Rahmani grew up in Wila . Her father is of Algerian descent. At the age of 16 she had as a result of meningococcal - sepsis amputated both lower legs. Five years later, Ramani began playing disabled sports and was able to celebrate her first major success in 2016 with the bronze medal over 100 meters at the European Championships in Grosseto . At the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro two months later , she just missed the podium over 200 meters with a 4th place. Because of her achievements, Rahmani was named Newcomer of the Year by Plusport in November 2016 and was elected Winterthur Sportswoman of the Year in spring 2017 . In July 2017 at the World Championships in London over 400 meters she again just missed the podium with a 4th place and also achieved a good result over 200 meters with a 6th place.
