Sten Bodvar Liljegren

Sten Bodvar Liljegren (born May 8, 1885 in Orrefors , Sweden , † December 30, 1984 ) was a Swedish Anglicist .

Life

Liljegren received his doctorate from Lund University , where he taught English from 1918 . In Lund in 1924 he published the international humanist magazine Li'tteris .

From 1926 to 1939 he was professor of English philology at the University of Greifswald and there director of the English seminar. The main focus of Liljegren's activity was the newer English and American literature . He interrupted his time in Greifswald in 1930/31 with a one-year visiting professorship at Columbia University in the United States . Liljegren was co-editor of the book series Greifswald Contributions to Literature and Style Research , which appeared from 1933 to 1940.

In 1939 Liljegren accepted a call to Uppsala University . After the Second World War, when he had already retired , he taught again in Greifswald from 1954 to 1957, as a visiting professor at his old chair.
