Stenocactus hastatus is a species of plant in the genus Stenocactus in the cactus family(Cactaceae).

description

Stenocactus hastatus grows with depressed spherical, light green shoots and reaches heights of up to 10 centimeters with a diameter of 12 centimeters. The ribs, which are triangular in cross-section, are slightly notched. The thorns are yellow to grayish. The single, upright central spine is up to 4 centimeters long. The five to six to 3 centimeters long radial spines are straight. Some of them are flattened.

The large flowers are yellowish white. The fruits have not yet been described.

Systematics and distribution

Stenocactus hastatus is common in the Mexican state of Hidalgo . It was first described as Echinocactus hastatus in 1898 by Karl Moritz Schumann . Alwin Berger placed them in the genus Stenocactus in 1929 .

Stenocactus hastatus is only insufficiently known and possibly a local form of Stenocactus crispatus .
