The ater Stenopterus is a beetle from the family of the longhorn beetle and the subfamily Cerambycinae .

features

The beetles have body lengths between 6 and 14 mm. The species is variable in color. The first sensor element has a deep longitudinal groove on the outside. The females are almost entirely black. The elytra of the males are mostly yellow-brown. But there are also specimens with a brick-red color. The wing-coverts get darker towards the wing tips. The femora of both sexes show a thickening towards the apical end. In the male, these are black, while the rest of the legs are yellow-brown in color.

distribution

The longhorn beetle is widespread in the western Mediterranean region ( Iberian Peninsula , Maghreb , southern France, Italy). There are isolated occurrences in Central and Eastern Europe.

Way of life

The longhorn beetles can be seen from June to September. The adults visit different umbelliferae , especially of the genus Daucus . A life cycle lasts 1 to 2 years. The species is polyphagous . The larvae develop in various deciduous trees. a. Oak , pistachio , ceratonia , fig , acacia , prunus , gorse and bladder bushes .
