Stepan Ivanovich Davydov ( Russian Степан Иванович Давыдов , scientific. Transliteration Stepan Ivanovich Davydov , born January 1, jul. / 12. January  1777 greg. In Chernihiv , † May 9 jul. / 21st May  1825 greg. In Moscow ) was a Russian composer.

Dawidow was trained by Giuseppe Sarti on the recommendation of Tsarina Catherine II . Between 1806 and 1810 he was Kapellmeister at the Imperial Theater in Saint Petersburg . He then worked as a singing teacher at the Moscow Theater School. In addition to church music, he composed ten ballets and one overture , eleven divertissements and several operas, including Die Mermaid together with Ferdinand Kauer and Catterino Cavos .
