Stephan Krier

Stephan Krier (born June 20, 1945 in Wiesbaden ) is a German diplomat and has been Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Rio de Janeiro since September 15, 2003 .

The Consulate General in Rio de Janeiro is the official representation of the Federal Republic of Germany in the Brazilian states of Rio de Janeiro , Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo .

He completed his law studies at the universities of Freiburg, Munich and Rome in 1973 with a doctorate in law. iur. from.

After joining the Foreign Service in 1974, he worked at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Argentina , in the Economic Department of the Foreign Office in Bonn, as a science officer at the Embassy in the People's Republic of China , as a press officer at the Embassy in Portugal and in the Political Department of the Foreign Office.

From 1995 to 1998 he was Deputy Consul General in São Paulo and then until 2001 Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Mauritania . Before his current assignment, from 2001 to September 15, 2003, he was Head of the Department for Latin America ( Mercosur ) at the Foreign Office in Berlin.
