Stephan Lösch

Stephan Lösch (born August 25, 1881 in Harthausen , Oberamt Mergentheim ; † October 25, 1966 there ) was a Roman Catholic priest , theologian , church historian and university professor .

Life

Stephan (also Stefan) Lösch was born as the second son of Joseph Lösch and his wife Anna Maria, née Bauer. His parents ran the “Zur Krone” inn and a sizable farm in Harthausen, which at that time had around 400 residents. Lösch spent his childhood in Harthausen and first attended the local village school , then the Progymnasium in the nearby Mergentheim and then the Obergymnasium in Rottweil . He then studied Catholic theology and classical philology at the University of Tübingen from 1900 to 1904 . After completing his studies, he attended the seminary in Rottenburg am Neckar . There extinguishing received on July 19, 1905 by Bishop Paul Wilhelm Keppler the priesthood .

In 1927 he received his habilitation in the history of theology at the University of Tübingen. From 1929 he was teaching patrology there , and from 1930/31 he was in the chair for New Testament exegesis. In 1933 he was appointed associate professor and in 1934 full professor . In 1949 he retired.

From 1928 Lösch was an honorary member of the Catholic student association AV Guestfalia Tübingen .
