Stephan Malzdorf

Stephan Malzdorf (born April 9, 1948 in Beierfeld ) is a German folk musician and presenter. He designs programs in the Ore Mountains dialect .

Malzdorf grew up in a musically interested family. Before he went to school he received singing lessons from cantor Gerhard Schäfer in Schwarzenberg . Between 1958 and 1962 he was a member of the Dresden Kreuzchor . Finally, he graduated from high school and acquired a professional qualification as an electrical machine builder . From 1966 to 1970 Malzdorf studied opera singing at the University of Music in Leipzig . Here he graduated successfully in 1970 with a state examination as a bass . However, his future professional path led him into the field of light music. In 1984 Malzdorf began a part-time job as a singing teacher at the Robert Schumann Conservatory in Zwickau . By participating in the Elstertaler Musikanten , an orientation towards folk music began in his work .

At the radio station MDR 1 Radio Sachsen he moderated the weekly "Popular Hit Parade" for twelve years until 2004.

Stephan Malzdorf lives in Zwickau .
