Stephan Reinhardt (lawyer)

Stephan Reinhardt (born August 22, 1966 in Basel ) is a Swiss lawyer and former commander of the Aargau canton police .

Life and education

Stephan Reinhardt spent his childhood and youth abroad. After completing the Matura type B, he studied law at the University of Basel from 1986 to 1992 . He has been admitted to the bar since his bar exam in 1996.

In the Swiss Army , Stephan Reinhardt led the military police battalion 1 as a lieutenant colonel in the general staff. On January 1, 2015, he was promoted to colonel in the general staff.

Stephan Reinhardt has been an independent lawyer and consultant in security matters since 2013.

Public offices

Stephan Reinhardt has held various public offices in Switzerland. For example, he worked for the Federal Department of Defense, Civil Protection and Sport from 2001 to 2004 as part of Switzerland's membership in the Partnership for Peace (PfP) as a military staff and liaison officer at the Swiss mission to NATO in Brussels . There he represented Switzerland's positions in the responsible NATO committees for the purpose of increasing the interoperability of the Swiss armed forces in international peacebuilding.

In 2004 Stephan Reinhardt moved to the Federal Office of Police (fedpol) as Chief of Staff of the Swiss Federal Criminal Police . From 2005 he was the overall project manager for the national implementation of the Schengen Police Cooperation Agreement and the integration of Interpol and Europol processes in Switzerland. Its tasks included connecting the national search system to the Schengen information system SIS.

In 2008 Stephan Reinhardt became police commander of the Aargau canton police with overall responsibility for around 750 employees. Reinhardt resigned from this post in 2012 after he had announced traffic violations in his private life, some of which were long ago.
