Stephan Ludwig Roth (born March 3, 1945 in Lübeck ) is a German medic .

Career

From 1965 to 1970 he studied at the University of Münster , Vienna and Chicago. Roth received his doctorate in 1970. In 1980 Roth completed his specialist training in internal medicine, from 1980 to 1986 he worked at the Radiotherapy University Clinic in Cologne, where he completed his specialist training in radiology until 1985 . In the same year, he completed his habilitation in radiation therapy in Cologne . From 1986 to 1987 he worked at the Center GF Leclerc in Dijon . Stephan Roth then worked from 1987 to 1989 as a senior physician at the Göttingen University Clinic for Radiation Therapy. From 1989 on he was professor at the Clinic for Radiation Therapy and Radiation Oncology at the University Hospital Düsseldorf . He helped position the clinic in the international scientific community. At the beginning of the 1980s he was one of the first German members of the European Society of Therapeutic Radiation Oncology (EORTC). As a result, the Society held two meetings in Düsseldorf. In 1993 he initiated the “Clinical Oncology” symposium, which is one of the largest German-speaking interdisciplinary oncological advanced training events. He also built close relationships with Haifa University . He retired on March 31, 2010.

Honors

  • 2012: Cross of Merit on Ribbon of the Federal Republic of Germany "for its extraordinary commitment in the organization and implementation of national oncological training events"
