Stephanie Skilton (born October 27, 1994 in Auckland ) is a New Zealand soccer player who is active for the New Zealand national team and plays for Papakura City .
Career
National team
Skilton was Oceania champion with the U-17 team in April 2010, to which she contributed two goals. The New Zealanders qualified for the 2010 U-17 World Cup in Trinidad and Tobago . There she was used in the three defeats against Japan, Spain and Venezuela.
In April 2012, she won the U-20 Women's Oceania Championship with the U-20 team in 2012 , scoring two goals in a 12-0 win over Samoa. With the victory in the championship, the team had qualified for the U-20 Women's World Cup in Japan in 2012. There they won the first game against Switzerland 2: 1 and achieved a 2: 2 against the hosts, but due to a 0: 4 defeat against Mexico they were eliminated as third in the group.
At the Cyprus Cup 2014 , she played for the first time in the senior national team in the second group match against Switzerland on March 7th . She was substituted on in the third group game against South Korea , but then had to wait until November 2017 for her third international match.
The U-20 national team won the U-20 Oceania Women's Soccer Championship in their home country in February 2014 without them and thus qualified for the U-20 World Cup 2014 in Canada . She was there in all four games and scored two goals, making her top scorer in her team. The New Zealanders reached the quarter-finals for the first time, but lost them against the later finalists Nigeria with 1: 4.
On December 15, 2016, she scored her team's three goals in a 3-2 win for NZ A Women against the Thai women's national football team.
On November 25, 2017, she made her third international appearance in a goalless draw against Thailand . On June 10, 2016, she started against Japan for the first time.
In the 2018 Oceania Women's Soccer Championship , she was used in three of the five games. As tournament winners, the New Zealanders qualified for the 2019 World Cup and the 2020 Olympic Games .
At the end of February / beginning of March she was part of the squad that took part in the Cup of Nations , and was substituted on in a game there. On April 29, she was nominated for the World Cup in France . At the World Cup, where the New Zealanders were eliminated after the group stage, it was not used.
