Stephen Biro

Stephen Biro (* 20th century) is an American film producer, director and screenwriter. He became known as the president and founder of the DVD label Unearthed Films .

Life

Stephen Biro, a horror and splatter film fan from a very early age , began his career in the film business primarily as a bootlegger in Tampa , Florida, which he received through swaps with other filmmakers such as Chas Balun and Shawn Lewis . In particular, he was always on the lookout for obscure films. In the spirit of this development, he founded Unearthed Films in 2001 as a VHS / DVD label and obtained the licenses for the rare films that he previously booted. The label became known through numerous imported films from the Asian market, in particular the Guinea Pig film series, but also films from the European market such as Aftermath (1994) and Hunting Creatures by Andreas Pape as well as various classics from the US independent scene such as Frankenhooker (1990). In addition, some newer independent films such as City of Rott (2006), Slaughtered Vomit Dolls (2006) and Philosophy of a Knife (2008) appeared on the label. In the latter, he also appeared as a film producer.

In addition to his work as an entrepreneur, he also works as a ghostwriter for scripts. As a writer, he has published several books on films as well as horror novels on his label. He also runs the music label The Unearthed Music Group. So far, albums by bands from the Goregrind and horrorcore area have been released on this .

In 2014 he made his directorial debut American Guinea Pig , a kind of American remake of the Guinea Pig series. As a producer, he was also involved in the second part American Guinea Pig 2: Bloodshock , while he again directed American Guinea Pig: The Song of Solomo (2017).
