Stephen M. Ross (born May 10, 1940 ) is an American entrepreneur and owner of the American football team Miami Dolphins , which plays in the NFL .

Career

Stephen M. Ross attended Mumford Public High School in Detroit and then graduated from Miami Beach Senior High School . He then studied at the University of Florida and then moved to the University of Michigan Business School, where he received his bachelor's degree in 1962. His graduate degrees from Wayne State University in Detroit and New York University were funded by his uncle, Max Fisher. After graduating, Ross initially worked as a tax lawyer at Coopers & Lybrand in Detroit . In 1968 he became deputy vice president of the real estate company Laird Inc . He then worked at Bear Stearns . In 1972 he founded The Related Companies , a company operating in the real estate industry. The company's headquarters are in New York City .
