Stern-Gerlach Medal
The Stern-Gerlach Medal is an award that has been presented annually by the German Physical Society (DPG) since 1993 for special achievements in the field of experimental physics .
This award is considered to be the most important in this subject in Germany. It consists of a handwritten certificate made of parchment and a gold medal with the portraits of Otto Stern and Walther Gerlach , after whom the Stern-Gerlach experiment is named. The Stern-Gerlach-Medal emerged in 1993 from the Stern-Gerlach-Preis , the upgrading of which was decided in 1992 with a medal.
The corresponding highest award of the DPG for achievements in the field of theoretical physics is the Max Planck Medal .
