Steve Augeri (born January 30, 1959 in Bensonhurst , Brooklyn ) is an American rock singer .

Life

Steve Augeri, son of Joseph and Emma Augeri, grew up in New York City and studied woodwind instruments , especially bassoon , at the New School of Music and Art in New York. At first he loved classical music and in order to finance his studies, he also gave lessons to children aged 6-16, until he met Fredrick Torregrossa, who recognized and promoted his vocal potential as a singer.

In the early 1980s Augeri went to Europe and appeared as a background singer in the Michael Schenker Group , UFO and the Scorpions . Further career steps were Tall Stories and the band Tyketto . With Tyketto the album Shine was released in 1995 , which was then presented on a European tour, and in 1996 the album Take Out & Served Up Live on Geffen Records .

He later achieved worldwide fame with the rock group Journey as their lead singer in the years from 1998 to 2006. Augeri recorded three albums with Journey. His breakthrough came from the song Remember Me , which was used as the soundtrack in the film Armageddon .

In the 2010s Steve Augeri switched to a career as a soloist and published mostly singles with his own works.

Since March 2014 Augeri can be seen live again with numerous well-known companions and his solo program.

Private

Augeri has been married to Lydia Augeri since 1986, with whom he lives in Staten Island . Together they support charitable projects such as the Breast Cancer Foundation , the Little Baby Face Foundation and others.
