Steve Jackson (* 1951 in Manchester , Great Britain ) is one of the founders of the games publisher Games Workshop . Together with Ian Livingstone , he brought the pen and paper role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons to Europe.

Both authors were looking for a way to make the role-playing game Dungeons and Dragons available to a wider audience. Dungeons and Dragons has a very complex set of rules and requires a whole group of players. As a result of their efforts, Ian Livingstone and Steve Jackson published a playbook in 1981 : The Warlock of Firetop Mountain (German title: Der Hexenmeister vom Flammenden Berg ), which was later published as the board game Der Hexenmeister by Schmidt Spiele . The success was so enormous that a whole series emerged from it: The Fighting Fantasy series. The books have sold over 15 million copies worldwide.

In 1982 he was inducted into the Clausewitz Hall of Fame .

The following books are among the most important works:

  • The Temple of Terror (1985)
  • Duel of the Pirates (Seas of Blood, 1985)
  • Creature of Havoc, 1986
  • Demons of the Deep (1986)
  • The Sword of the Samurai (1986)

He is often confused with the American author of the same name , who published titles such as GURPS, Munchkin and Car Wars with his company Steve Jackson Games.
