Stephan Joseph "Steve" Kornacki Jr. (born August 1, 1979 in Groton , Massachusetts ) is an American journalist and television presenter .

Life

Kornacki studied at Boston University . He then worked as a journalist for the New York Times newspaper and online magazines , the Wall Street Journal and the New York Daily News before joining Salon.com in February 2010 as senior policy editor . From 2012 to March 20, 2013 Kornacki was one of four co-presenters of the program The Cycle , a political analysis and discussion panel, on the cable news channel MSNBC's program .

On April 6, 2013, Kornacki took over as successor to Chris Hayes, the moderation of the weekend morning program of MSNBC's information program Up with Chris Hayes, which has since operated as Up with Steve Kornacki . The program offers a mixture of interviews, roundtables with several guests, films and monologues by the presenter, mainly on political and social issues.
