Steve Mizerak

Steve Mizerak (born October 12, 1944 , in Perth Amboy , New Jersey , USA ; † May 29, 2006 ), nicknamed The Miz , was a professional pool player who was among the world's best in pool in the 1970s and 1980s.

Mizerak began to learn to play billiards under the supervision of his father, who was " New Jersey State Champion" for several years . At 13, Steve Mizerak won his hometown Perth Amboy City Championship and turned pro. However, some time later, he doubted that he would be able to make a living from billiards and decided to go to college. He completed a teaching degree and taught for 13 years.

He could achieve his greatest successes in the pool disciplines 9-ball and 14 and 1 endlessly ; around 1978 through a success at the traditional US Open in 9-ball . He was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Billiard Congress of America in 1980. At 36, he was the youngest player ever to receive this honor. In 1980 he had a guest appearance in the film The Man from Baltimore by Robert Ellis Miller . In 1986 he had a guest appearance in the film The Color of Money by Martin Scorsese .

He died on May 29, 2006 at the age of 61, leaving behind a wife, two sons and two grandchildren.
