Life

Schroyder is considered one of the pioneers of electronic music . In the early 1970s he discovered the synthesizer as his preferred instrument, initially in Berlin with Tangerine Dream on the LPs Alpha Centauri (1971) and Zeit (1972). With Ash Ra Tempel and Timothy Leary he worked on the LP Seven Up in 1972 . In 1980 he founded the Augenstern group with Gene Gross. In the studio the first production of Strahl (MC 1986) was recorded. The study of harmonic structures in nature gave rise to the idea of plant music , which was performed for the first time on the occasion of the Freiburg State Garden Show and was published in 1987 on MC ( music cassette ) blossom sound . A selection of the two productions was released in 1991 on the Danish label Foenix Musik on the CD Best of Augenstern .

In 1987 Steve Schroyder met the harmonist and music researcher Hans Cousto and got to know the ideas of the cosmic octave: music that is tuned and composed according to planetary tones. This corresponded to Schroyder's search for ways of realizing music in harmony with the nature of the cosmos. One consequence of this encounter was the CD Sounds, Pictures, Worlds, a soundtrack of the various earth and moon vibrations. In 1992 the CD Sun - Spirit of Cheops came out as a follow-up to the collaboration with Hans Cousto , a musical implementation of the mathematical structures of the Cheops pyramid on the basis of the sun tone. The last two albums mentioned were released again in 2006 on Planetware Records.

In 1993, in collaboration with Hans Cousto, Christian Rätsch and Jens Zygar, a horoscope setting of the astronomical point in time when Albert Hofmann discovered LSD was published on the CD Acid Test - Hommage a Albert . Schroyder met the drummer and gong player Jens Zygar already in 1989 and founded the Star Sounds Orchestra (SSO) with him. Her first album, Planets, was the start of a series of productions with compositions tuned to the planet. This was followed by the CDs Fantastic Phenomena (the soundtrack for the Sat.1 series) and Kosmophonon . With these albums and numerous concert appearances, the SSO first became known in the New Age and esoteric scene.

A 7-hour concert in the Megatripolis Club in London made contact with the techno scene. The ambient music of the spheres were subsequently in the ChillOut -Arealen the big raves known and parties and popular. The intensive contact with the DJ scene, especially from the psytrance, inspired and changed the SSO sound significantly. In 1997 and 1998 the two albums Psy Force and Ooz were released on Spirit Zone Records and in 2004 in England on Millennium Records the double album Music For Qigong Dancing . Vocalist Irina Mikhailova joined the SSO in 2003. With her, the SSO developed into a specialist band for opening concerts on festival stages worldwide. At the beginning of 2006, Schroyder founded the music label Planetware Records with Fritz Dobretzberger, with the first release of the Maxi-CD Let's Mozart by Star Sounds Orchestra featuring Blue Violin.

In 2014 Schroyder played on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Schöneberg Town Hall in Berlin together with Wolfram Spyra , B.Ashra, Rainer von viel and Udo Leis at the "Glockenklang" event.

In 2014 the group Dream Control was founded, consisting of Steve Schroyder and Zeus B. Held, the former member of Birth Control . After a series of concerts, her debut album Zeitgeber was released in 2017 .

In 2015, Schroyder and Zygar ended their collaboration. Star Sounds Orchestra, now made up of Mikhailova and Schroyder, renamed itself to Star Sound Continuum.
