Steve Williamson
Steve Williamson (born June 28, 1964 in London ) is a British jazz musician ( tenor , soprano and alto saxophone , keyboard and composition ).
Live and act
Williamson did not begin to play the saxophone until he was sixteen and gained his first musical experience in reggae bands . In 1984 and 1985 he graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama . Afterwards he mainly worked with his own groups. On the occasion of the Open Air Festival for Nelson Mandela's birthday in 1988, he performed with Courtney Pine at Wembley Stadium , then with Art Blakey with Ronnie Scott . In the same year he played in Louis Moholo's Viva La Black and in 1990 in Chris McGregor's Brotherhood of Breath . In the 1990s he not only appeared with his own band, but also in projects by Iain Ballamy , but also with Maceo Parker , Bheki Mseleku , Us3 and Graham Haynes . It builds on the concepts of M-Base and is also open to acid jazz .
