Steven Tenenbom

Steven Tenenbom (* 1965 in Phoenix / Arizona ) is an American violist and music teacher.

Tenenbom studied with Max Mandel , Heidi Castleman and Milton Thomas at the University of Southern California and until 1979 at the Curtis Institute of Music with Michael Tree and Karen Tuttle . He is violist in the Orion String Quartet , which is Quartet-in-Residence at the Mannes College of Music and the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival , and the quartet of his wife Ida Kavafian Opus One and the ensemble TASHI .

As a guest he has appeared with the Guarneri and Emerson String Quartet , the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio and the Beaux Arts Trio , as a soloist with the Utah Symphony Orchestra , the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra , the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra and the Brandenburg Ensemble on. His musical partners also included Lukas Foss , Chick Corea and Wynton Marsalis . He participated in numerous music festivals in the USA and was awarded the Coleman Chamber Music Award . He has worked as a music teacher at the Juilliard School , the Mannes College of Music , the Bard College Conservatory of Music and, since 1996, at the Curtis Institute of Music .
