Stevns is a peninsula in the east of the main Danish island of Zealand south of the Køge Bugt . It is separated from Zealand by the three rivers Stevns Å , Tryggevælde Å and Kildeå . Strøby Egede has most of the residents, but Store Heddinge is the central location . Administratively, most of the peninsula belongs to Stevns Municipality in the Sjælland region .
The Maglehøj and numerous Iron Age burial grounds ( Himlingøje ) testify to the importance of the peninsula from the Stone Age to the first centuries. Chr.
