The Hildesheim branch canal (SKH) connects the Mittelland Canal with the Hildesheim port . It was put into operation in 1928.

The Hildesheim branch canal branches off the Mittelland Canal (MLK) east of Hanover at Sehnde . It runs from the junction at MLK-km 183.25 in a southerly direction and ends at km 15.1 in the port of Hildesheim. The federal waterway , for which the Wasserstraßen- und Schifffahrtsamt Mittellandkanal / Elbe-Seitenkanal has been responsible since February 5, 2020 (previously the Waterways and Shipping Office Braunschweig), ends at km 14.4.
