The Stichting Natuurbehoud Suriname (STINASU) is a Surinamese nature conservation organization founded in 1969 .

It is a foundation that, as a quasi non-governmental organization, is also dependent on income from ecotourism and on project funding from international partner organizations such as the WWF . However, the board of directors and the director of the foundation are appointed by the Minister of the Ministry for Ruimtelijke Ordening, Grond-en Bosbeheer (regional planning, land and forest management).

STINASU has u. a. The aim of the foundation in cooperation with state organizations is to make the nature reserves available for scientific, educational and economic (tourism) purposes. It is also intended to stimulate and coordinate scientific studies that must provide information for decisions on the management of nature. Their task also includes making it clear to the Surinamese population how important nature conservation is. To this end, it issues publications for tourists and schools. Several nature films were also made that are used for educational campaigns. Excursions and camps are organized in the reserves for schoolchildren to bring them closer to the value of nature conservation.

In the relatively easy to reach protected areas, Raleighvallen (waterfalls in the Coppename ) and Voltzberg (parts of the central protected area ), Wia-Wia , Galibi and Brownsberg , STINASU has created overnight accommodations that tourists can also book directly with the foundation in Paramaribo .
