Reason: I don't think it's an existing word. However, Google research does not produce much more meaningful Wikipedia clones. Google Books shows me a couple of books from over 100 years ago, they all seem to be related to Codex Maximilianeus Bavaricus Civilis . That is apparently the only work in which this word is used. Everything very thin! And since nothing is documented in the article, you cannot understand where all this information comes from. - TheRandomIP ( discussion ) 22:08, Aug 26, 2020 (CEST)

Stiefahn ( e ) (from Old High German  stiof- "bereaved, orphaned " and Ahn ; female : step ancestor, Stiefahnin) is the spouse of an ancestor or an ancestor of a person to which no biological or legal relationship is but a (remote) affinity .

The stepmother is the father's wife , but not the birth mother; the stepfather is the mother's husband but not the own father (see stepfamily ). For several decades, including registered partners to step-relatives .

In family history research ( genealogy ), well-known step flags and half-siblings of the ancestors of a person are included in an ancestral list or pedigree , as they are often of great importance for the upbringing of the children and their later marriage circle (but they do not receive a Kekule number ). The listing of step flags makes it difficult to mix up people and makes it easier for half-siblings to join an ancestral community through a common parent .
