Foundation money and currency
The Money and Currency Foundation, based in Frankfurt am Main, is a foundation under public law with legal capacity . Its purpose is to maintain and promote public awareness of the importance of stable money .
The foundation was established on the basis of a federal law of December 27, 2000. The economist Hermann Remsperger was chairman of the board of trustees and played a key role in the founding . The foundation, which was then set up on January 1, 2002 , supports projects that are dedicated to basic economic and legal research in the field of monetary and currency systems . It thus makes a contribution to the scientific foundation of central bank policy as well as macroeconomically relevant government projects in the area of banks and financial markets.
The Foundation's assets, which by the Deutsche Bundesbank is managed, comes from the sale of DEM 1 gold coins in 2001, the occasion of the introduction of the euro - cash in memory of the German mark were issued.
The Board of Trustees decides on all fundamental questions that are part of the Foundation's area of responsibility.
