The Foundation Employment is a German foundation based in Bonn . The purpose of the foundation is to promote the development of democracy. The foundation was established in 1963. It supports civic engagement and self-help activities.

The Guide to Civil Society is an information offering on questions of civic engagement and civic participation in Germany.

The foundation has a board of trustees , a board of trustees and the executive board. The Foundation's board of trustees includes Gerald Häfner , Ulrike Poppe , Robert Menasse , Ortwin Renn , Henning Scherf and Marianne Birthler , formerly Richard von Weizsäcker and Walter Scheel . The chairman of the board of trustees is Monika Kunz , the chairman of the board is Hanns-Jörg Sippel .
Finances
The foundation finances its work mainly from public funds, which are supplemented by donations and income from conferences, projects and publications. The Federal Ministry of the Interior supports the foundation annually; in 2016 the donation amounted to 500,000 euros. In addition, in 2016 the foundation received specific project grants from the Federal Agency for Civic Education for individual educational events. The supervisory authority is the Senate Department for Justice of the State of Berlin.
