Stig-Olov Walfridsson

Stig-Olov Walfridsson (born November 16, 1962 in Sweden ) is a Swedish entrepreneur and motor sportsman . He belongs to the well-known Walfridsson family .

Career

Stig-Olov Walfridsson started his racing career in 1985 in rally and rallycross motorsport. Until 1986 he competed in the World Rally Championship (WRC) and European Rallycross Championship (ERC) with a Volvo 240 Turbo , from 1987 to 1989 with an Audi 80 Quattro and in 1990 with an Audi 90 Quattro . He and his co-driver Gunnar Barth won their first podium in the Arctic Rally in Finland, where they came second.

From 1991 to 2005 he started exclusively with Mitsubishi rally cars that complied with Group N regulations, in the A3 class of the WRC (PWRC) and in the ERC. In 1991 he won with Gunnar Barth in a Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 in the PWRC class and finished 11th overall at the International Rally Sweden. That year he achieved his best PWRC result of the season with second place.

From 1995 Walfridsson used a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo in rally races. In 1998 and 2001 he was able to repeat his success in the Rally Sweden and win the PWRC classification. In addition, from 1993 to 2000 he took several second and third places in the Rally Sweden.

After an accident with a moose in 2006 and the season ended prematurely for him, he did not drive a Renault Clio again until 2007 in the 1st division of the Swedish Rallycross Championship. There he was able to secure the championship title in 2009 and 2010 and the runner-up title in 2011 and 2012.

Stig-Olov Walfridsson is the youngest of the three Waldfridson brothers. He is married with four children and lives in Karlstad . He heads the branches of the Helmia Bil AB car dealership chain, which is established in eight locations in Värmland and which emerged from the original four Volvo dealerships Fryksdalens Motor AB owned by Helmer.
