Stiltskin is a British indie or grunge band of Scottish origin founded in the 1990s . Her best-known track, Inside, from her first album The Mind's Eye , became known as the soundtrack of a commercial for Levi's . "Rumpelstiltskin" is the English name of the German fairy tale character Rumpelstiltskin .
Band history
The band was formed in 1992 by Peter Lawlor and James Finnigan. Lawlor asked Finnigan if he wanted to help form the band as Lawlor had written some songs. In 1994 the line-up with Ross McFarlane and Ray Wilson was complete. The British number one hit Inside was followed by the second single Footsteps , which rose to number 20 on the charts. Stiltskin's debut album achieved considerable success in Europe (less so in the US) by making it into the top 10. A tour in September and October followed. The band broke up before the recording of a follow-up album, however, as the singer Ray Wilson switched to Genesis as a replacement for Phil Collins . In addition, both two band members and the band had fallen out with the record label .
In 2005 the band was re-established. Ray Wilson was able to win his old Genesis companion Nir Zidkyahu (Nir Z) as drummer and Irvin Duguid , the former tour keyboardist of Stiltskin, for the band. On October 6, 2006, the studio album She was released, which has been available on the band's website since April 2006. This was followed by an extensive European tour, on which only songs by Stiltskin and the band CUT were played ( CUT was a project from 1999 by Ray, Steve Wilson, Nir Z and others). At the beginning of 2007 the accompanying tour album with the simple title Live was released , which was recorded on October 25, 2006 in the Bonn Harmonie.
