Nir Zidkyahu

Nir Zidkyahu (born November 1967 in Rishon LeZion , Israel ) is an Israeli drummer .

Life

Zidkyahu gained wider fame when he played for Genesis in 1997 after Phil Collins left the album Calling All Stations and on the tour that followed in 1998.

Zidkyahu has lived in New York since 1992 and works mainly as a session musician. Because of his surname, which is difficult to pronounce, he is now called "Nir Z". His brother is called Tomer Z and is also a drummer for Blackfield .

With Ray Wilson , with whom he shared the time at Genesis, he released the album Millionairhead in 1999 under the band name Cut .

In 2001 he played on John Mayer's album Room for Squares . He then played with Jason Mraz , Joss Stone and Alana Davis, among others . In 2006 he took on the album Endangered Species with Flaw and his second solo album Carry On with Chris Cornell . In 2009 he was touring drummer with Billy Squier .
