The Stixi AG was a Saarland baked goods manufacturer based in Ensdorf , which under the brand names Stixi , SUM , Wurzener and XOX salty and sweet snacks has manufactured and marketed.
Company history
The company was founded by Peter Baustert in Püttlingen in 1886. In 1979, the company was incorporated into Back-Häusl Nahrungsmittel GmbH and then renamed Artur Baustert GmbH. In 1987 the company was converted into a stock corporation and renamed to Stixi AG. Stixi AG shares have been traded on the German stock exchange since 1987 . In 1996 the production facilities in the Ensdorf and Limburg plants were closed and the company concentrated on the sale and logistics of long-life pastry products and snacks.
In 1998 the KG Adolf Vogeley was already the majority shareholder of Stixi AG, and then took it off the stock exchange in October 1998 after a voluntary takeover offer to the minority shareholders. Then the company was converted into Vogeley Lebensmittelwerk GmbH. The delisting was justified with the "ruinous competition" in the snacks and pastry industry . The company was now to be realigned as a real estate company , with real estate owned by the old Stixi AG in Ensdorf and Limburg being brought in. In December 2001, the cash compensation paid to the minority shareholders during the takeover was subsequently tripled in the arbitration proceedings at the Hanover Regional Court .
In autumn 2010, pretzel sticks were again in stores under the “Stixi” label, but now as a new sales line of Intersnack Knabber-Pastry from Cologne under the umbrella brand funny-frisch.
Trivia
Just like other everyday products, the Stixi company also found its way into (at least Saarland) linguistic usage. Here one usually says "Stixi" to pretzel sticks.
