The Stockhornbiwak is a refuge of the Swiss Alpine Club Blümlisalp section in the Valais Alps in the canton of Valais in Switzerland .

Location and operation

The bivouac is at the foot of the Stockhorn south ridge of the Bietschhorn massif in the Baltschiedertal at 2598  m above sea level. M. . It is operated by the Blümlisalp section of the Swiss Alpine Club and is not manned.

history

The bivouac was built in 1974 and looks like a space capsule. It offers 18 beds and is comfortably and practically furnished. You have to bring your own food and drinks. The view to the south of the Valais Alps extends from Weissmies to Weisshorn (Valais) . It mainly serves as a starting point for the classic climbing tour over the five towers of the Stockhorn south ridge.

Approaches

  • From Ausserberg through the rock bar above Martischipfa via Hohbitzu and over an easy via ferrata (blue-white) to the bivouac (normal route) in 6 ½ hours, 1600 meters altitude, difficulty level T5.
