The container ship type 8276 (other letters also B8276 ) shipyard Stocznia Gdynia were built in the mid-2000s two units. The design was featured in the annual Significant Ships of 2006 .
The two ships of the 8276 series were built in the mid-2000s for the Kollmar shipping company Wulff. They are designed as Panamax full container ships with the deckhouse set far aft . The container capacity is 4546 TEU , with an average container weight of fourteen tons, the capacity is reduced to 3150 TEU. 500 refrigerated containers can be connected. The ships have cargo holds locked with pontoon hatch covers and do not have their own cargo gear .
The ships are powered by a MAN B&W two- stroke diesel engine with an output of around 40,700 kW . The motor acts directly on a fixed propeller and enables a speed of almost 25 knots . There are also two auxiliary diesel engines of the MAN B&W types 9L28 / 32H and 8L28 / 32H as well as an emergency diesel generator. The berthing and casting off maneuvers are supported by a bow thruster .
The second of the two ships was sold for demolition after only ten years of operation due to the shipping crisis and the opening of the expanded Panama Canal . It was the youngest container ship ever to be scrapped.
