Stoldo Lorenzi
Stoldo Lorenzi (* 1533 or 1534 in Settignano near Florence , † September 1583 in Pisa ) was an Italian sculptor of the Cinquecento .
Life
He probably began his training first in his father's carving workshop in Settignano, and then in Florence, together with Girolamo Macchielli, he received drawing lessons from Michele di Rodolfo. By 1550 at the latest, his work, together with his brother Antonio, was recorded by Niccolò Tribolo . During this time he was involved in work in the garden of the Medici Villa in Castello .
He was significantly promoted by Luca Martini , a member of the Florentine Academy, who brought him to Pisa, where he introduced the young sculptor to the Grand Duchess Eleonora di Toledo . In Pisa z. One of the first works, for example, was a marble relief glorifying Grand Duke Cosimo I de 'Medici , which is now in Holkham Hall near Oxford . After Stoldo Lorenzi died in Pisa in 1583, he was buried in the church of Santissima Annunziata in Florence.
