Stone Sizani

Phumelele "Stone" Sizani (born March 2, 1954 in Alexandria, Port Elizabeth ) is a South African politician and diplomat.

From April 22, 2009 to March 2, 2016 he was a member of the South African Parliament and acted as Whip of the African National Congress . On October 11, 2016, he was accredited as ambassador in Berlin to Federal President Joachim Gauck .

Career

He was a political prisoner on Robben Island from 1978 to 1980 . From 1981 to 1986 he was a laboratory assistant at Allied Colloids . Sizani was Director for the Eastern Cape Region of the Kagiso Trust from 1989 to 1993 . In 1994 he received a Masters in Development Policy from the University of East Anglia with a Chevening Fellowship (British Foreign and Commonwealth Office). For the International Discount Telecommunications Corporation , based in Newark (New Jersey) , he was the general agent for the provinces of Eastern Cape, Western Cape , North Cape and Gauteng from 1994 to 1998 . From 1998 to 1999 he was political advisor to Makhenkesi Arnold Stofile , Prime Minister of the Eastern Cape Province. From 1998 to 1999 he was a member of the executive committee of the Ministry of Education of the Eastern Cape Province. He is married and has four kids.
