Stonehenge was a Hungarian progressive metal band from Veszprém , which was founded in 1992 and split up in 2008.
history
The band was founded in 1992 by guitarist Balázs Bóta and bassist Sándor Jutasi. A permanent line-up was not formed until 1999, so that in addition to guitarist Bóta, singer Zoltán Bátky (vocals), bassist Bertalan Temesi (bass), drummer Kristóf Szabó (drums), and keyboardist Ádám Baki were also represented in the band. In 1992 the band played the first concerts. In 1993, Any Problems? the first demo. Various concerts and performances at festivals followed. This was followed by three further demos: Reality / Evolution , Rambling I (both 1995) and Rambling II (1996).
In 1997 the band played as the inaugural band for Psychotic Waltz in Budapest . The first EP followed in 1998 under the name Angels . In the same year the band released the single Between Two Worlds . The song should also later be released worldwide on the sampler Power Hung (a) ry . The band also went on tour with After All and Symmetry . In 2000 the band recorded a music video for Between Two Worlds by producer András Asztalos and band member Balász Bóta. In July 2000, Bertalan Temesi, a new bass player, joined the line-up. In October, the recording of the debut album Angelo Salutante began with producer Barna Hidasi in the HSB studio . After the recordings, another tour followed with the Hungarian bands Black-Out and Nemesis . In March 2001 the band returned to the studio and completed the album. During the recordings, the album was just mixed and mastered. Nail Records , a sub-label of Hammer Records , released the album in May. The release was followed by a tour with Da Capo . In 2001 the band was the only Hungarian band to play at the Summer Rocks Festival in Budapest. In the following year the band reached a contract with the Swedish management Roasting House and the recordings for the next album began. In February 2002, the group played as the opening act for the concert for the release of Dream Theater's album Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence with Da Capo and Nemesis. In 2003, the recordings for the album had to be interrupted because Bóta was injured in an accident and was out for nine weeks. After that he also had family problems, which slowed down the development of the album considerably. As a result, singer Bátky left the band. After singer Kyrah briefly took up his post, singer Fumio joined the cast at the end of 2004. This enabled the recordings to continue, which resulted in the EP Nerine in 2005 . In 2008 the band split.
style
The band plays classic Progressive Metal, which can be compared to the works of Dream Theater , Vanishing Point and Empty Tremor .
