Stonogobiops is a genus of small gobies (Gobiidae). The fish live in the tropical Indian Ocean and the western Pacific in shallow water on sandy bottoms between coral reefs .

features

They are among the Partnergrundeln and always live in pairs with small bang crabs of the genus Alpheus (usually Alpheus randalli ) together in burrows in the sand. Their body has black, brown or red vertical or horizontal stripes with a white base color. The first rays of the fin on the first hard-nosed dorsal fin are elongated. The individual species are 3.5 to 6 inches long.
