The Storch-Ciret Group is a group of companies that has specialized in the production and sale of painting tools. The group is controlled by Storch-Ciret Holding GmbH.
history
STORCH was founded in 1896 as a “painting school for decorative wall design” in Elberfeld . In 1910, the STORCH brand was registered and the company began to produce the first stencils for decorative painting under the name Storchwerke .
In the same year Wilhelm Greten joined the company as a shareholder. Company partner Gustav Boysen died in 1921 and Greten became the sole owner of the company in the same year. Under his leadership, the company achieved a leading market position in Germany by 1929.
In 1943 the business premises at the current headquarters of the group of companies were destroyed in an air raid. The factory was rebuilt through Gretens' initiative and returned to its position “at the top of the industry” in the 1950s. In 1958, STORCH was the first in the industry to offer electrical tools for professional painters. At that time, the range offered included steam wallpaper removers and low-pressure paint spraying devices. The company developed an adhesive tape for covering and masking in one operation, which was brought onto the European market in 1986.
The legal successor of STORCHWERKE in 1997 was Storch Holding GmbH, which at that time coordinated the activities of eleven sales companies in Europe and six production companies in Europe and China. In 2011 Storch Holding GmbH merged with Ciret Holdings AG to form Storch-Ciret Holding GmbH, headquartered in Wuppertal .
After 119 years, the office building was opened at the headquarters of the corporate group on Platz der Republik in Wuppertal .
Key figures
The Storch-Ciret Group operates a total of 28 sales, administration and production companies in Europe and China. The group is active in 17 countries around the world. 95% of sales are generated in Europe, of which approx. 50% in Germany. The equity ratio is over 50%. The majority of the Storch-Ciret Group is family-owned. The Storch-Ciret group of companies is the European market leader for painting tools.
Corporate structure
The structure of the Storch-Ciret Group is based on the various customer groups.
The STORCH division focuses on commercial customers in the painting and plastering trade . STORCH Malerwerkzeuge & Profigeräte GmbH is active as a sales company for this branch.
The Ciret division is aimed at all trading companies without specializing in commercial craftsmen. The sales company COLOR EXPERT GmbH serves retailers who carry a wide range of paints, varnishes, plasters and wallpapers. The brands ROTA (paint roller ), Kana ( brush ), MasQ (products for masking) and Prep (products for preparing painting and plastering work) are aimed at retailers who offer individual product categories and not an entire range of painting tools. The Fia ProTeam and Westex divisions primarily sell products from their own production in private label or neutral packaging (Fia ProTeam) and in bulk (Westex).
Resources shared by the sales companies in the area of procurement and service are outsourced according to their function as further subsidiaries of Storch-Ciret Holding GmbH. This includes a purchasing and scheduling company, production companies, logistics locations and commercial services such as financial accounting, accounting, IT and controlling.

The Storch brand is the group's core brand. Tools, machines and aids as well as related services for the painting and plastering trade are sold. The sales company is Storch Malerwerkzeuge & Profigeräte GmbH . The target group is commercial users. The products are sold through paint wholesalers and sales representatives. The products are sold worldwide.
