The Zhuhai tram is a tram operation opened on June 13, 2017 in the Chinese city of Zhuhai .

Brief description

At the time of opening, the operation consists of a standard-gauge east-west tram line with a length of 8.9 km and 14 stops between Haitian and Shangchong (line 1). A second, north-south route is scheduled to go into operation in 2017. The line that runs here will connect the center and the main train station. Your final stop will be just a few meters before the crossing point to Macau . A third line is being planned. The routes have no overhead lines , only between the final stop in Shangchong and the depot and within the depot there are overhead lines. Because of the frequent typhoons here, the city decided on the overhead contact system.

vehicles

The Italian company Ansaldo STS has developed the TramWave system for catenary -free operation . On November 7, 2014, test drives began on a 1.7 km long section of Line 1 of the Zhuhai tram, which was then under construction . Technical problems delayed commissioning, which was initially planned for August 2015. A total of ten of the five-part AnsaldoBreda Sirios were available at the opening ; the first two were built in Italy , all other vehicles in China.
