Strandzesdaagse (also: Strand6daagse) is the name of a traditional six-day hiking and camping tour in the Netherlands , which takes hikers along the beach from Hoek van Holland in the province of South Holland to Den Helder in North Holland . This tour of 140 kilometers has been organized in the last week of July every year since 1959 and is also covered in the national media.

On three days they run around 30 km each, twice around 20 km and on the last day a little more than 10 km. You will stay overnight in Wassenaar , Noordwijk , Velsen -Noord, Egmond aan Zee and Callantsoog . The participants do not have to carry their luggage themselves. Tents and other luggage are transported to the next campsite every morning by the organizers. The organizers also take care of coffee and tea, warm meals, breakfast and lunch packages and fruit.

In addition to hiking, it is camping that makes the Strandzesdaagse a sporting event. In all weathers you will only stay in the tents you have brought with you. The camping grounds are set up by municipalities and associations and may only be used by the participants. Sanitary facilities and washing facilities are also provided.

For organizational reasons, the maximum number of participants is 1000 people, even if the interest increases every year. Registration begins on November 1st of the previous year.

The founder of the Strandzesdaagse was the politician Henk Horsman from Den Helder.
