Line (unit)
Dash is the designation for different technical units.
Spatial dimension
The line was a grain measure . It was used in particular for flour , pulses and seeds and was also known as a grain screed.
In Regensburg corresponded
- 1 line = 4 gauges = 32 heads .
In Prague , as Prague line or Bohemian line ( Korec in Czech ), was:
- 1 line = 93.389 liters = 1.6992 Prussian bushels = 1.51841 Wiener Metzen
- 1 line = 4 quarters = 16 Maaßl = 192 Seidel
- 1 quarter = 4 Maaßl = 48 Seidel (4 Metzen of 3 pints of 4 Seidel)
- 2 lines = 3 Viennese meatballs
As a flour coating according to the Flour and Bread Ordinance of December 1738, it was dependent on the type of flour:
- 1 dash of flour = 1/31 courage in general
- 1 stroke = 32 pounds of rye flour
- 1 line = 34 pounds of poll dust
- 1 line = 36 pounds of breadcrumbs
- 1 stroke = 37 pounds of mouth meal
1 courage was 30 Metzen with 31 lines. Courage was also a measure of calculation.
Length measure
The line is also considered to be an old (French) measure of length and it was:
- 1 line = 1/10 inch
Area measure
The bohemian line was also a measure of arable land and fields when sowing.
- 1 line (sowing) = 800 square fathoms (arable land)
Angle measure
In nautical science ( full circle : 32 lines) and artillery ( full circle : 6400 lines) the line is used as an angular unit.
