Strisch ( Russian Стриж , swifts ' ) is a Soviet space suit , which for the crew of the space shuttle Buran from the Sokol suit the Soyuz was developed -Besatzungen. The Buran crew should wear the suit during take-off and landing and would protect the space travelers in emergencies with the ejector seat if they were to exit . The suit is designed for an altitude of up to 40 km and a speed of Mach 3. The Buran was equipped with K-36RB ejection seats. In the American space shuttles , modified ejector seats SR-1 of the Lockheed SR-71 for the commander and pilot were installed on the atmospheric flights of the Enterprise and the first four space flights of the Columbia . After the STS-4 mission , these seats were removed.

The Strisch spacesuits have an outer shell made of olive-colored rubber-coated nylon fabric and are provided with connecting pieces for electrical, air and cooling connections. A hood with the visor is attached to an anodized aluminum ring. The forearms are attached to the upper arms with adjustable cords. The removable gloves have rubber fingers and are equipped with leather on the palms. Pockets on the legs are designed to hold survival equipment such as a knife, a pistol or other. The suit is equipped with a pressure gauge on the left side and a balance valve in the middle.

The Strisch suit and the matching ejection seat K36RB (Russian К36РБ ) were tested at five Progress starts between 1988 and 1990 (Progress 38 to 42).

A modified type is used in the Russian Air Force on aircraft that can reach great heights but are not equipped with pressurized cabins.
