history

The Strizh high-speed train has been operating on the Moscow-Nizhny Novgorod line since June 1, 2015. The trains are equipped with wagons from the Spanish manufacturer Talgo . The purchase price for seven train sets was 135 million euros . A train between Berlin and Moscow consists of eighteen cars. Of these, fourteen are sleeping cars , two 1st  class coaches , one buffet and one dining car . In total, there is space for more than 400 passengers on the train. The cars are air-conditioned and equipped with WiFi . At Brest station, the gauge changes from standard gauge (1435 millimeters) to Russian broad gauge (1520 millimeters), which is why the wheel sets have to be adapted. With a new technology called Swift , this re- gauging takes place automatically, so that the time for this process is reduced from around two hours to around twenty minutes. The cars are approved for speeds of up to 200 km / h .
