Stuck on You is a rock 'n' roll song that became a number one hit in the United States in 1960 with Elvis Presley . The songwriters of the song are the Americans John Leslie McFarland and Aaron Schroeder .

On March 5, 1960 Elvis Presley was discharged from the US Army after two years of military service. On March 20, he was back in the Nashville RCA recording studio for the first time , where he recorded six tracks in two days. Among them were the two titles Stuck on You and Fame and Fortune . These two tracks were released by RCA on March 23rd as single # 7740. The track Stuck on You , in which Presley sings about being inextricably linked to his lover ("I stick to you like a glue stick"), was featured on Frank Sinatra's Timex television show in Miami Beach on March 26th, Presley's first TV appearance after eight years for which he was paid $ 125,000. On April 4, 1960, Stuck on You appeared for the first time in the Hot 100 of the US music magazine Billbord . The song started in 84th place, but had already reached first place after three weeks. There he was able to hold his own until May 16, before he was replaced by the Everly Brothers with Cathy's Clown . In the 1960 annual charts, Stuck on You landed in ninth place. In Canada and Australia the title also reached number one, in Germany it came in second place, while in Great Britain it only came in third place.
Cover versions
In the USA, the New York record company Bell Records released a cover version with the unknown singer Jerry Pearl in 1960 . It was just as unsuccessful as the version by Bobby Stevens alias Ray Pilgrim in Great Britain. A follower came from Italy in 1962 with the singing journalist John Foster. Cover versions in other languages came from France with rock 'n' roll singer Nicole Paquin ( Comme un clou ) or from Germany, where Teddy Palmer did not record Lach ' with the lyrics by Joachim Relin on Electrola . Even he could not place himself in the hit lists.
