Aaron Schroeder

Aaron Harold Schroeder (born September 7, 1926 in Brooklyn / New York , † December 2 , 2009 in Englewood , New Jersey ) was an American songwriter , composer and editor .

Life

Schroeder became a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers in 1948 and is listed with over 2,000 songs written. He had his first hit with Rosemary Clooney's At a Sidewalk Penny Arcade . He has penned several successful Elvis Presley titles, including five number one hits. He often worked in a team with Abner Silver .

From 1960 to 1965 he headed the Musicor Records label , where he published Gene Pitney and Blood, Sweat & Tears , among others .
