The Egyptological journal Studies on Ancient Egyptian Culture (SAK) contains first publications and revisions of documents and monuments as well as archaeological , philological , historical and religious studies discussions and treatises in German, English and French. It was founded in 1974 by Hartwig Altenmüller and Dietrich Wildung . With volume 21 (1994) of the SAK, Hartwig Altenmüller took over the sole editing position, from volume 32 (2004) together with Nicole Kloth. From volume 39 (2010) the "SAK" by Jochem Kahl and Nicole Kloth are published. It is published annually by Helmut Buske Verlag .

Since 2010, the editors have been supported by an advisory board for the review of the manuscripts , whose members prepare expert reports on the anonymized manuscripts.

In addition to the SAK, supplements are published at irregular intervals, which are reserved for anthologies, congress files and monographs .
